The Graze V.155: Emergence - Inspiration and Grief
Dear Friends:
Spring flowers and peeping tree frogs; the smell of pollen and the buzz of bees remind us to notice what is emerging in our world. As life becomes more complex and rich, we become aware of all that is past - both sweet memories and great loss. Collectively, we are all living in a time of inspiration and deep grief - personal grief and great collective grief. So much has changed, so much is emerging, and in that, is loss.
Although in springtime so much of life feels new, I was reminded this week of that quote from Teilhard de Chardin:
“What we are all more or less lacking at this moment is a new definition of holiness.”
Part of our growth is finding a way to express this grief. Grief has to be worked through our bodies. ‘Holiness’ is not merely a religious concept, it is an incarnate reality - it is the body of Christ but it is also our bodies and the body of our neighbor. It is the body of the tree and the mountain and the river. The Earth experiences this grief right along with us.
As we enter this emerging season of the Earth, find kindness - for yourself, one another and the whole of creation. Find ways to pay attention. Join us for some collective clean up on May 6th at Mission Farm (see below). Gather with us on Sunday morning at 9:30. Take yourself on a walk. Listen to the peepers at night. Breathe deeply.
May the mystery of spring emerge in you and may kindness and love surround you,
Lisa+
